Ah, the procrastination. It has been ten-and-a-half months since my first blog. I thought I would be diligent and create at least one each week. Obviously, that hasn't happened. I have no excuse except for my own laziness and my lack of focus for much of that time. Neither has it been for lack of ideas or because I didn't want to write the blogs. I simply allowed myself to be distracted. In that time, however, I did complete a fifth and final rewrite of Hathaway. I spent more than six months on the effort. My agent is very happy with it, which is always a good thing.
Great thanks goes out to Carol Behrman for her help and efforts. The author of more than 30 books for children and young adults, Carol graciously agreed to read Hathaway and make suggestions on how I could make it an even better novel. Her recommendations were spot on. Hathaway ran 548 pages before I started the rewrite. Through editing and changes, but mostly because I was smart enough to follow Carol's advice and institute almost all of her suggestions, it now reads at 491 pages. That is an improvement, and I am very pleased with the final product. Now, if we can just find the right publisher...

I got it, Thom. Thanks again for your kind words. Ed and I are sending positive thoughts your way as the ms makes its way to publishers and we hope some day to read about "Hathaway" in the NY Times Book Review.
